N Friday, July 14, The Wellspring will be hosting its first ever sponsored ‘sleep out’ in Stockport to raise awareness of homelessne­ss and rough sleeping and vital funds for the charity.

We will soon be advertisin­g for people to come and take part.

The Wellspring silent Auction takes place from 7pm on Friday, April 7, at The Wellspring on Harvey Street and some tickets remain on sale, tickets can also be purchased on the door on the night. Many fantastic items will be auctioned on the night.

The Wellspring will very shortly be producing its 2016 annual report, which details all the work that the charity has done with homeless and disadvanta­ged people throughout 2016.

It was yet another record-breaking year achieving more than 13,000 positive outcomes.

An alarming figure in our report is the number of Homeless presentati­ons made at The Wellspring in 2016.

Homeless presentati­ons 2013: 149, 2014: 324, 2015: 392, 2016: 412

That means there were 412 cases of people presenting as homeless at The Wellspring in 2016, a figure that has been rising at an alarming rate over the last few years.

I believe that we can beat homelessne­ss in Stockport, with the continued support of the community of Stockport, Wellspring can carry on providing more support than ever before.
