Lawyer’s 40 years in firm

-

PRIVATE client lawyer Diana Smith has retired after 40 years.

During her time at the firm SAS Daniels, Diana advised clients on a host of issues, including estate administration, inheritance tax planning, preparing wills and estate planning.

Diana has worked at SAS Daniels for 22 years, starting with one of its predecessor firms, Walls Johnston & Co in 1995.

After studying for her law degree at Liverpool University, Diana began her legal career as an articled clerk at Fox Brooks Marshall in Manchester in 1976.

Diana said: “It has been a privilege to act as a trusted adviser to so many clients and their families over the years.

“I’ve been involved in many interesting cases. One that really stands out was my first probate case where I assisted in handling the affairs of a local landowner and the transfer of his entire estate, including his deer and deer park to the National Trust.”

Justine Clowes, head of the private client group at SAS Daniels, added: “Diana will be greatly missed by us all at SAS Daniels and by the clients she’s looked after for so many years. She has always been held in high regard demonstrating great human and professional judgement, often when it’s an upsetting time for a client.

“We thank her for all the great work and wish her well in her retirement.”

SAS Daniels’ private client team has seen two new appointments, Kerry Blackhurst and Victoria Timothy, taking its total number of solicitors to 10.
