Chocolatier has sweet treat for hospice patients

- ALICE IRVING

PATIENTS at St Ann’s Hospice enjoyed a sweet treat recently, thanks to the generosity of local chocolatier Oliver Dunn.

Oliver, the founder of Oliver’s Chocolate Parties, kindly offered to visit day therapy patients at the Heald Green hospice to give them a taste of his unique chocolate-themed entertainment, which involved learning about the chocolate, creating their own chocolate decorations and, of course, sampling the goods.

Oliver said: “I loved visiting St Ann’s Hospice, staff and patients were so lovely! The mood was upbeat and they all enjoyed the experience, which was great to see.

“My Grandma Beryl spent time there so it brought back some memories and it felt great to give a little back to a place that looked after her so well in her final weeks. It was an honour to be able to deliver the session and a reminder that life is about enjoyment and how important it is to enjoy the now.”

Ruth Labrow, creative therapist at St Ann’s, said: “It’s great for our patients to be able to get involved in activities such as this. Many people think that a hospice is a sad place, but that’s not the case. All the patients had a great time and we’re really grateful to Oliver for offering to come in and host such a fun morning.”
