Jitters set in as Telford take a point

-

VANARAMA NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH throw was only half-cleared by Telford captain Ben Bailey, for Montrose to chest down impeccably on the edge of the penalty area before firing low on the half-volley past Burton.

The Hatters moved into the play-off positions on the live league table, but in truth Telford were well worth a point against their “jittery” hosts – and Montrose got the final touch to a Joel Dielna corner just six minutes later to restore parity.

The fixture, much like The Hatters’ campaign appears to be doing, fizzled out and remained at one-apiece come the final whistle, and County’s dejected players left the field knowing that a huge opportunity had slipped through their fingers.

County boss Gannon reflected afterwards that his side appeared “shaky” in the stalemate, adding that his side were left “extremely frustrated.

“The heart of our side were all very shaky – we worked on certain things on training, but there were certain aspects of our game where we were left exposed and found wanting. I don’t think it’s anything to do with pressure, we have a number of players not doing their basic tasks.”
