School is awarded top marks
CHEADLE Hulme School has been praised for its performance by the independent schools’ watchdog.
The school was rated ‘excellent’ following its inspection, carried out by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI), with Reception pupils praised for their ‘exceptional achievement’.
The report, published in April following a threeday visit by the ISI at the end of March, praised both ‘the quality of pupils’ academic and other achievements’ and ‘the quality of the pupils’ personal development’.
The report found that Reception children demonstrate ‘exceptional achievement’ and Junior School pupils achieve an ‘excellent standard across all their areas of learning’.
It added: “Throughout the school, pupils achieve excellent standards in a wide range of co-curricular activities and pursuits, and have gained considerable success in local, regional and national competitions.
“From the youngest child in Reception through to the Sixth Form, pupils display excellent attitudes to learning and try their best at all times, encouraged by a supportive leadership team and staff.”
In the Senior School, pupils’ success in public examinations was praised, alongside their skills, knowledge and understanding across a wide range of subjects.
The kindness and thoughtfulness of pupils was also highlighted and the report said: “Pupils are kind, compassionate and thoughtful young people who understand the value of service to others, both in their local community and across the world.”
Headteacher Lucy Pearson said: “I am wholly delighted that the inspectors found our pupils and the school so impressive.
“The excellent outcomes of this inspection are the result of many people’s hard work across and throughout the school and I am so pleased that their work, manifested in the calibre and achievements of our pupils, has been recognised.”
