Daber makes most of depleted opponents

-

ON Saturday there was a welcome victory for Bramhall against a Stockport side missing a number of players from last year.

Stockport won the toss and chose to bat on another chilly April day, and got off to a quick start with Patrick Firth particularly aggressive, but when Adam Siddall deceived Mike Beaver with a slower ball, the game changed dramatically.

As Siddall and James Davenport found their rhythm, runs dried up.

Siddall took two more wickets with slower balls, and Gavin Tomlinson, replacing Davenport, added the wicket of David Wilks.

From 44-4, Stockport staged a mini recovery before Michael Millward became the first of four batsmen to perish trying to up the scoring rate against the slow bowling of Tom Drury.

Tomlinson took the other two wickets to fall, leaving Stockport all out for 99 in the 47th over.

Patrick Firth carried his bat for a good 60 for Stockport, but only two others reached double figures.

The Bramhall innings started with two maidens before Ruaridh Patel and Ed Daber attacked in some style.

When Patel was out for 35 in the 13th over, only 11 more runs were needed by Bramhall.

Daber duly hit the winning runs to bring up 50 for himself, and complete a comprehensive victory for Bramhall.
