WOMEN drivers are being warned about a group of threatening men targeting lone females stopped at junctions in Stockport.

The incidents have happened in Offerton and Heaviley and among the victims is Cala Grant, who was approached by two men who tried to get in her car.

She was near the Britannia Hotel, on Dialstone Lane, on Monday at 7.45pm and fortunately her doors were locked so she sped off through a red light.

Although left shaken by the incident she has taken to Facebook to warn others to be on their guard.

Cala said: “Please ladies lock your doors when driving.

“Luckily my doors were locked so I just raced off through a red light and nearly got hit by another driver in the process.

“I am okay although shaken up. Drive safe and be aware of what is around you.”

The two men are described as Asian and aged in their early 20s.

Another woman, aged 45, was also left shaken when three men tried to get into her car at the junction on Nangreave Road and Windermere Road.

One jumped in front of the car to stop her and the other two tried her door handles but again found them locked and she was able to drive off.

The incident happened on May 2 at around 7.10pm.

The woman’s mum said: “She was absolutely terrified and I think people need to be warned.

“Aquinas College is nearby where there are hundreds of kids, many of them drive but probably don’t have new cars that have self-locking doors.

“I feel threatened myself and worried for my girls.”

Police, who are treating the matter as ‘vehicle interference,’ are investigating and have appealed for witnesses.

Other reports say that there have been similar attempts by similarly described people on the Offerton estate, the junction of Hempshaw Lane and Dialstone Lane and another on Nangreave Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
