Bar celebrates first birthday

-

THE team at Rock Salt Café in Heaton Moor are celebrating the bar’s first birthday this month.

The café, on Heaton Moor Road, prides itself on serving food sourced locally and prepared by an in-house chef.

Recently the cafe was awarded autism-friendly status from Stockportbased parenting publication AuKids magazine.

Proprietors Gina and Arthur Wright say they’ve worked hard to bring something extra to Heaton Moor’s community.

Gina said: “We had live Irish bands on St Patrick’s Day, themed events at Valentine’s and Easter, a spooky Hallowe’en evening and a family fun day with Santa at Christmas. Every excuse for a celebration, we try and create something fun and different for the community. We are looking to exceed people’s expectations on every level.”

Co-editor of AuKids magazine, Debby Elley, added: “It’s a hard thing to be all things to all people, but Rock Salt has pretty much nailed it. I take my own autistic son here before school and am often back here with friends for brunch or an evening event.

“Our magazine gave Rock Salt Cafe autismfriendly status for several reasons - the waiting staff are extremely understanding and flexible, tables are well spaced, the lighting is gentle and ambient all day long, the music not too overwhelming and toilets are accessible.

“It’s just a really relaxing atmosphere. I wish them every success for the future.”
