Make a bee-line for garden centre to join in family fun this half-term

-

NOTCUTTS garden centre in Woodford Park, Woodford, will be a hive of activity this May half-term.

The centre will host a free bee-themed activity trail based on the popular character, Barry B Benson, from the film Bee Movie.

The trail will help children learn about why bees are so important and how they can create beefriendly outdoor spaces.

The trail will feature tips and advice from Barry B Benson and will help children discover bee facts and learn more about the plants, herbs and shrubs they can plant to attract bees and other wildlife into their own garden.

Between Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, June 4, children can pick up a free activity sheet and follow the bee trail around the centre.

The trail and activity sheet will be free to complete and will include a ‘Kids Go Free’ voucher for DreamWorks Tours: Shrek’s Adventure in London.

Rob Marshall, centre manager at Notcutts Woodford Park, said: “We’re buzzing with excitement about our bee trail this half-term. Encouraging bees into our gardens is vital and we look forward to helping families learn about beefriendly plants - it’ll be the ‘bee’s knees.’”

George Brown, spokesman for the British Beekeepers Association, added: ‘This is a fun and friendly way for everyone in general and younger children to learn about the importance of bees and other insects in producing such a lot of the food we eat.”
