Charity supporters on big run

-

BEECHWOOD supporters were among the runners at this year’s Great Manchester Run – in what marked an emotional week for the city.

The Great Manchester Run saw a total of 40,000 competitors in the road race on Sunday, May 28.

The fastest male runner for Team Beechwood in the 10K challenge was Joseph Tolson in a time of 42 minutes and 53 seconds and the fastest female 10K competitor was Carla Cooke in a time of 54 minutes and 10 seconds.

For the half marathon, it was Paul Nutter in an hour and 26 minutes and Keren Nowak in one hour and 46 minutes.

The Great Manchester Run came at the end of the week that saw the tragic terror attack at the Manchester Arena.

Fundraising manager at Beechwood, Angela Gray, said: “The Great Manchester Run is always a wonderful day.

“But this year it was emotional and amazing at the same time, following the tragic incident at the beginning of the week.

“It was a totally inspirational day, a fantastic atmosphere and great support. I would like to say a huge thank you to Team Beechwood and everyone who came out to support the runners.

“Following the run, we left a bouquet of yellow ribbons in St Ann’s Square on behalf of Beechwood for those who lost their lives.”
