PBE set to boost funds

- BOXING SHELDAN KEAY

A PORTION of ticket sales from next week’s PBE boxing event featuring Stockporttrained boxers Matty Mainwaring and Adam Hague will be donated to the ‘We Love Manchester’ emergency fund set up for the families of those affected by the Manchester Arena bombing.

Mainwaring and Hague, who both train at Matthew Hatton’s gym in Stockport, will be hoping to pick up wins when they compete on the bill at Bowlers Exhibition Centre on Friday 16 June.

Former footballer Mainwaring is unbeaten so far in his career since deciding to hang up his boots to become a boxer, winning all five of his fights, while Hague will look to try and return to winning ways after suffering a defeat in his last bout.

After the tragic incident at the arena, promoter James Lindemann has now decided to donate £5 from every ticket purchased for the event to the fund.

“The PBE felt it was important to do something in the wake of the terrible incident that hit our great city,” said Lindemann.

It is a packed event taking place next week, featuring the professional debut of highly rated women’s boxing amateur star Stacey Copeland, as she takes on Borislava Goronava.

The event also sees Sam Hyde continue his progress in his career as he goes up against Michael Pareo from Belgium in an eight round contest.

The likes of Mark Jeffers and Stephen Danyo will be competing on the bill too.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased from pbeofficial.com
