It’s crunch time in the Brunner Cup

THE prestigious Brunner Cup competition reaches its last sixteen stage on Saturday afternoon.

Mouthwatering clashes feature heavily in the draw with local derby’s involving Stockport clubs.

Games get underway at 2.30pm at all venues as the hunt to win crown green bowls Champions League continues.

Houldsworth WMC have a Brunner Cup history and they face Poynton Sports down at Cheadle Conservative Club.

There is a close game taking place at Poynton Sports and another all Stockport derby.

This time Nursery from Heaton Norris face a tough task against bang in form Victoria from Offerton.

Another intriguing game will see Crown Hotel play Altrincham Borough at Wilmslow Legion Club.

This could be a big opportunity for The Crown to reach the quarter finals of the famous competition.

Outside of the town and two of the favourites Wharton Cons and Lloyds Hotel will meet at Macclesfield Bowling Club.

Elsewhere this weekend on Sunday the British County Parks championships continue.

After a sluggish start Cheshire Parks continue there campaign against Cumbria and Westmorland.

The home leg is at Bungalow BC next to Edgeley Park and play gets underway at 2pm. The away leg meanwhile is at the flying Levens in Cumbria and will provide a stern test for any bowler.

Greater Manchester face a massive test against Yorkshire with the home leg at Lloyds Hotel in Chorlton.

It’s a tricky trip for the GM away side as they head to the notorious Brighouse Sports venue.
