Enterprise team will boldly go to finals
INSTOCK Technologies, Stockport Grammar School’s Young Enterprise team, will represent the north west at the National Young Enterprise Finals in London.
The team of Year 12 students is now one of the top six Young Enterprise teams in the country after winning the North West Final, which was held at the University of Central Lancashire.
In their feedback, the judges said: “The panel were unanimous in our view that you were consistently exceptional at all stages of the process – from the professionalism of your report writing, through to your interaction with us on your trade stand, culminating in your powerful presentation.”
The students, who promote virtual reality headsets, won a series of Young Enterprise awards in the run up to the North West Final.
At the Stockport, Tameside and Rochdale regional final they were named Overall Winner after producing a company report, preparing a trade stand and presenting to judges, teachers and other schools.
In the Greater Manchester final, they were crowned Best Overall Company and won the award for Best Company Report.
The group visited Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Manchester to deliver a Dragons’ Den-style pitch.
They explained how the headsets worked and spoke about the successes of the business to date.
They visited the Trafford Centre to take part in their Young Enterprise Trade Fair where they received the award for Best Product/Service Stand.
Leanne Curl, head of economics and business studies at Stockport Grammar School, said: “The pupils have worked tirelessly to get their business to the stage it is today.
“They have been commended for their level of professionalism and have been working hard to prepare for the next round of the competition.”
