Hundreds join together to help raise thousands

-

THE Together Trust family fun day raised more than £13,500 to help provide equipment and services for the young people it cares for.

The event, at the Together Trust Centre on Schools Hill, Cheadle, was attended by hundreds of children and families, as well as special guests including Darth Vader, Snow White, Maleficent and actor Adam Thomas, who plays Adam Barton in Emmerdale.

There were a variety of attractions, including music from Imagine FM, a funfair, mini golf, zorbing, arts, crafts and face painting.

There was also a selection of stalls to browse, refreshments and a licensed bar.

A highlight of the event was the It’s a Knockout competition, based on the BBC television show.

Teams from across the region battled each other for the crown in a series of madcap events involving water, foam, silly costumes and a giant obstacle course.

The first round was won by Lex Lads, then the second round went to the Together Trust team.

Event and community fundraiser Julie Williams said: “The changeable weather certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of the people of Cheadle, as hundreds came out in force to our family fun day.

“We are delighted with the amount of money raised and the continued support, commitment and generosity from local businesses and the community.

“We would like to thank our staff, trustees, volunteers, Barclays Bank who sponsored the children’s colouring competition, local businesses, families, community groups and everyone who came along on the day.”
