Rain can’t stop fun at church summer fair event

-

ST Matthew’s Church in Edgeley held its annual summer fair despite the rain.

There were stalls, a raffle, tombola and cakes, as well as a range of information stalls offering support to local people.

This included The Prevention Alliance, Explore Learning, as well as members of the local police team.

There was also a puppet show and visitors also had the chance to give their views on what it is like living in Edgeley and what they would like to change.

The church is due to open new community rooms on Chatham Street and at the fair people were invited to give their ideas on how they would like to see the space used.

The Rev David Brewster said he was delighted with the turn out, adding: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many of our local community into church today.

“We are a friendly and active church, with lots of summer holiday activities for the whole family to enjoy.

“We work hard with our local partners to help reduce social isolation in this area.

“We are looking forward to opening our new community rooms, which we hope will make a difference in the lives of local people.”
