Positive changes at The Wellspring

- JONATHAN BILLINGS Project manager at The Wellspring

THE Wellspring is undergoing many positive changes. Improvements are taking place to our building.

A new staff area is being constructed with a new reception desk which has been very kindly built and donated by RW Joinery in Stockport.

It is a great honour to be supported by Stockport based companies.

We are delighted with the support we have received from RW Joinery.

More information about the brilliant services that RW Joinery provide can be found at www. rwjoinery.co.uk.

We will also be installing a new computer area at The Wellspring where our members can access online services.

These days everything is online from benefit claims to housing applications.

Homeless people and those at risk of homelessness need to assess computers and be taught the skills needed to use them.

As well as positive changes to our building and the resources we have, we are also introducing many new services.

Stockport continuing education will be placing a full-time tutor at The Wellspring to provide bespoke 1-1 learning for individuals as well as providing some group educational services with the aim of making everyone who attends The Wellspring more employable.

Giving people the skills and knowledge to increase their employability is vital in supporting people to become independent.

Our new 2017 business plan has many positive aims as we continue to target people who are the most at risk of homelessness and put services in place to address homelessness and prevent people from becoming homeless.

We had a fantastic event at one of Stockport’s best restaurants last week.

Rainbow 88 in Cheadle Hulme held a charity night for The Wellspring and raised over £1,500 with an auction and raffle.

Rainbow 88 can be found at Cheadle Hulme Shopping Centre, Station Road, Cheadle Hulme.

Thanks so much to everyone who attended and supported this brilliant event.

We are still looking for runners to take part in the Hatters Half-Marathon organised by The Stockport County Fans cooperative.

This is by far the best half-marathon in Stockport and is very professionally organised.

Run and fundraise for The Wellspring and get free entry in to the event and no set fundraising target.

The run takes place on Sunday, September 3.

To enter please email your name address and date of birth to thewellspring@btconnect.com or visit www.thewellspring.co.uk for more information.
