Failings with the bat on fine surface
on 20 was the dangerous Grant Hodnett, caught off a pumped up Sanders, who produced a fiery spell in batting-friendly conditions.
He took the first three scalps to fall, and Higginbottom then chipped in with his own three to make it 37-6.
Then came somewhat of a recovery, as Sanders took an enforced rest, and Timperley eeked out a 30 run partnership thanks to a lively 29 from keeper Chris Canning.
But when he was caught behind at 67-7 another 19 run partnership had the Beavers wondering if their early hard work with the ball was going to be wasted. However, the re-introduction of the ebullient Sanders saw him take the last three remaining wickets to bowl Timperley out for 101.
Chris Sanders’ brilliant 6-26 and his key 26 runs saw him pick up the plaudits, but Matt Higginbottom’s 3-33 and 22 runs were also crucial to the result. In a good week for him, 18-year-old Sanders went on to make his senior Cheshire CCC minor counties debut against Wales the following day.
While 25 points against a high flying side was a fantastic result, the Beavers should remember that their dismal batting performance on a blameless surface needs careful analysis.
Next Saturday, Bramhall look forward to hosting league leaders Alderley Edge at Church Lane, and then face Timperley again - this time at Church Lane - in the Cheshire Cup Quarter Final on Sunday.
