Totally dedicated business boost BID

- HELEN WHITE Marketing stockport

TOTALLY Stockport - which champions town centre businesses – is your new weekly news column from Stockport’s BID team.

Last October Stockport town centre businesses voted for the area to become a Business Improvement District (BID) to drive forward projects to attract more visitors, workers and residents into the town centre.

A Business Improvement District is a defined geographical area where the local business community have voted to invest collectively to improve its offering.

In Stockport, the BID has been launched as Totally Stockport, delivering projects across the town centre, totally working for everyone.

Over the next five years the Stockport BID will generate almost £2.5m of additional funding, specifically ring-fenced for projects that will enhance the town centre’s offering. First priorities are to make the town centre a safer and better place for customers and employees; to improve choice; to improve the marketing of all areas of the town and to make it easier to do business in Stockport.

The Totally Stockport team is set to build upon the fantastic things already happening in Stockport to attract visitors... Foodie Friday has been a phenomenal success; the Teenage Market is engaging with young people in the town; Vintage Village, Stockport Old Town festival, Stockport’s Beer Festival – so many great projects – and the BID is giving its support to some of these and many more, new events.

The Totally Stockport team have hit the ground running with a vibrant look and a brand new website at totallystockport.co.uk.

Take a look, the website provides one central portal for town-wide information – news, events, jobs, what’s on and interviews, something for everyone.

In May we launched the first of Totally Stockport’s magazine, a quarterly, free consumer magazine available in local shops, businesses and supermarkets in the town and in surrounding village areas to tell everyone of all the great new things happening to attract more people in to the town centre. Look out for the August issue out soon.

Totally Stockport’s first event – Totally Foodie weekend - took place in June with street food aromas and Caribbean notes floating over Merseyway, St Peter’s Square and the Market Place.

We’re already working to give visitors to the town centre an even better experience; explore with our new town centre map; download the Totally Stockport app for town centre offers and savings; find out how we are saving businesses money and much more coming soon!
