Stockport Express

Your second Vernon token

-

THIS is the second of five tokens available for you to vote for your favourite cause in this year’s Vernon Jubilee Fund.

The fund is giving away a share of £10,000 to 16 good causes – and the more tokens a charity or organisation receives, the greater their share of the cash will be.

A third token will be printed in next week’s paper, and then there will be a further two in the edition of August 30, so there are plenty of chances to vote and maximise the funding your chosen cause receives.

Tokens can be submitted to the charity or community group directly or dropped in at any of the Vernon’s six local branches – in the town centre, Bramhall, Marple, Reddish, Hazel Grove and Poynton.

This year’s 16 good causes are; Independent Options, The Weekend Day Care Centre for Dementia Care, AuKids, Stockport Foodbank, The Wellspring, Medequip4Kids, Stockport County Community Foundation, Friends of St Joseph’s, Love Reddish, 1st Hazel Grove Scout Group, Stroke Information, Family Art Attack, Bosden Farm Community Group, AVRO Heritage Museum, Beechwood Cancer Care, and Stockport Buildings Preservation Trust.

Vernon CEO Mike Hanson said: “Now is the time to really get behind the group or charity that you support. And they really do need your votes – the more tokens a group receives, the bigger their share of the £10,000 pot.

“Each group on the shortlist will get a guaranteed £100 but the rest of the money will be divided depending on the number of votes.

“So, please, make sure you buy the Stockport Express and vote throughout August and show Stockport that you really care.”
