Famed for hats, yarn, textiles and ironworks, to name a few, Stockport was a bustling industrial town – super connected by road, rail and canal.
Today the landscape remains the same albeit with the addition of a pyramid, a well connected motorway, rail, air and ever-growing broadband speeds. Stockport is well and truly synchronised with the world.
Tech is a broad term rather like ‘state of the art’ back in the 70s. Each week I uncover more tech and innovation in Stockport from online retailers, online businesses, web builders, app developers and coders.
Many emerging businesses starting or relocating here due to the wealth of talent and demand for services south of the city.
Manchester has been compared to Silicon Valley such is its tech innovation and leading development of digital products. Being part of this wider GM landscape provides so many opportunities in Stockport and the other satellite towns within GM.
Stockport has a high concentration of modern day pioneers in the tech sector. We are even the home town of the co-founder of Wordpress!
As Walt Disney once quoted: “If you can dream it, you can do it (in Stockport).”
