Seven Miles Out

-

FOR the past five years the Seven Miles Out team has been committed to the regeneration of Stockport Old Town underpinned by the ethos that ‘people make places.’

For us it has been amazing to see the Market Place come alive with events such as The Teenage Market, The Stockport Old Town Folk Festival, The Stockport Old Town Fringe Festival and the monthly Foodie Friday events which we have organised for the past two and a half years.

We’ve also run hundreds of events In Seven Miles Out supporting local bands, artists and communities groups and built up a wonderful following of people who love this area and want to see it thrive.

Without the funding from Stockport’s Portas Pilot which supported the start-up of Seven Miles Out in 2013 and created the Stockport Old Town brand to invigorate the area with events and festivals, none of this would’ve been possible.

Going forward we’ve been very open about our ambition to see Foodie Friday become a permanent offer here in Market Place together with all the animation from Seven Miles Out to create a unique street food, drink and entertainment destination in Stockport Produce Hall, the iconic building in the Market Place that is now up for tender by Stockport Council. We felt so strongly that this is the right way forward for the area we set up an online proposal so people could see our creative vision and we have asked people to support it by adding in their email address.

We’ve had over 3,000 people add their name to our supporters list which is phenomenal and it’s still growing.

What we’d love Stockport Produce Hall to be is a vibrant hub where people can meet to enjoy locally produced street food and craft ales from local microbreweries with a platform to showcase local music and artistic talent and an indoor venue to run boutique festivals and specialist markets.

Stockport Produce Hall should be a creative space which supports the whole of the area by bringing in new visitors and celebrates the independent sector and all the amazing diverse communities here in Stockport.

If you support our aims and ambitions we’d love you to join us at stockportproducehall. co.uk We continue to offer great free entertainment at our events at Seven Miles Out and this Saturday is our monthly Sound and Vision run by the amazing family team of Vicki, Ric and James Collard from Heaton Moor.

Sound and Vision has been a huge success in creating a special atmosphere for people who love retro vinyl in a party atmosphere.

The playlist for Sound and Vision is specially curated every month to include classic tracks from past decades and is a fantastic night to meet up with old friends and let your hair down on the dance floor.

There’s even a mirrorball and special lighting to create an intimate club feel and for our monthly devotees, there’s nothing else quite like it.

If you haven’t tried Sound and Vision please come along on Saturday from 8pm and join the party.
