Manhunt as driver attacked with a machete

POLICE are hunting two men after a driver was attacked with a machete in Stockport.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was driving a black BMW which was involved in a collision with a red Seat Ibiza with the numberplat­e OE11 MSV on Reddish Road.

He was then attacked with a machete and was taken to hospital suffering from a serious arm injury.

The incident took place at around 1.50pm on Wednesday, August 16.

Detectives have launched an investigat­ion and have named two men they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Police are searching for Brandon Rothwell, 22 and Barry Farebrothe­r, 23, both of no fixed abode.

Both men have links to Brinningto­n in Stockport and Hyde in Tameside.

Det Cons Matt Tarr, of GMP’s Stockport division, said: “We have a significan­t number of officers trying to locate these men, but we are now asking for help to trace them.

“Members of the public are advised not to approach them. We are asking anyone with informatio­n or who may have seen Brandon Rothwell or Barry Farebrothe­r to please contact us as a matter of importance.

“Anything you know, no matter how small, may prove to be the clue that leads us to finding them.”

Anyone with informatio­n is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 1046 of August 16 - or Crimestopp­ers, anonymousl­y, on 0800 555 111.
