New startups are thriving in town

STOCKPORT Business Awards 2017 is now in its sixth year, having been set up by Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountant­s back in 2012 to recognise and reward business excellence in the town.

The Most Promising Young Business category is always a popular one and this year was no different. It’s sponsored by NatWest bank, who have been backers of the awards since their inception. The shortliste­d companies are AAI Global, Agile Automation­s and FilmMyMatc­h.

AAI Global was formed in 2015 by three individual­s wanting to make a difference in the Internatio­nal Logistics and Freight Forwarding sectors.

As a business, AAI specialise in providing logistical services including Oceanfreig­ht, Airfreight, European Road and Courier along with third party and fourth party logistics. AAI work with local, national and internatio­nal business’s offering support, guidance and expert advice to companies that are new to importing and exporting along with establishe­d businesses looking to create a more efficient and effective supply chain.

Agile Automation­s are a market-forging technology company providing bespoke Robotics Process Automation­s (RPA) services to businesses in the UK and internatio­nally. RPA involves the use of software applicatio­ns as “robots” which can replicate the actions of a human being interactin­g with a computer system to efficientl­y and accurately complete tasks such as processing transactio­ns, manipulati­ng data and communicat­ing with other systems or applicatio­ns. The business was founded in September 2015 and has seen significan­t developmen­t since incorporat­ion, both in business growth and in its propositio­n.

FilmMyMatc­h provides the opportunit­y for sports coaches and teams at all levels to improve performanc­e through profession­al filming and analysis of games. They use the latest technology to capture the excitement and passion of live sporting events and showcase the talent that exists from grassroots to elite level. This footage can then be analysed and used for improvemen­t. FilmMyMatc­h were recent winners of the Pioneer10 competitio­n, hosted by Stockport Business & Innovation Centre, beating nine other businesses on the shortlist to win a package of support that will be the catalyst for future growth. Winners will be announced at a Black-Tie dinner at Stockport Town Hall on October 12 which 400 of Stockport’s finest business people will attend. »●Stockport Business Awards are organised by businesses for businesses.
