Development gets another £17m

-

AN investment of £17m has been approved to start the third phase of the Stockport Exchange development.

Stockport council executive has given the green light for funding for 50,000sq ft of office space and retail units.

These buildings, part of the redevelopment of the Grand Central area near Stockport station, will be housed in what is currently the cinema there. This will happen once the new cinema at the Redrock leisure complex, off Bridgefield Street, is open.

Phases one and two at Stockport Exchange include 40,000sq ft of office space, a 115-bedroom hotel, a supermarket, cafe, and public open space.

Councillor Kate Butler said: “The interest shown so far means we could have let the phase two premises many times over. This success has contributed to a strong business case for further investment.”
