Friends on track in park
THE Friends of Crescent Park had a double celebration on Sunday (September 10) with Picnic in the Park and the opening of a new running track by the Mayor of Stockport, Coun Linda Holt.
The Picnic in the Park event, which has been happening for more than 10 years and always draws a crowd, saw residents enjoying the free entertainment despite the atrocious weather.
Over the coming months, The Friends of Crescent Park, who have been working with the Council since 2004 to transform the park, will install adult exercise equipment, football goal posts, oak and cherry blossom trees and then replacement swings early next year.
Coun Dean Fitzpatrick said, “Every year Picnic in the Park gets better and better and this year there was such a lovely vibe around the place. The park is starting to look really special now and I’m so proud of all of the hard work The Friends have put in to make Crescent Park one of the most beautiful parts of Stockport.”
