METERS NOT THAT SMART
IN last week’s Express (September 6) Ann Coffey was promoting smart meters.
What she failed to say was: 1) you pay for your free smart meter and maintenance through your gas and electricity bills; 2) it can make it difficult to change supplier to get the best deals as your smart meter may not work with another company and you end up reverting back to giving readings; 3) if they go wrong your
new supplier may not be able to fix them so again you go back to readings; 4) they rely on mobile signals so if your signal goes down or you live in a low signal area your smart meter may not work.
So before you rush to have them fitted there are lots of things you should take into consideration. Smart meters may not be as smart as you think. Sara Moor Stockport
