Fire crews rescue car driver trapped in flood
FIREFIGHTERS rescued a stricken motorist after his car was deluged by floodwater.
The emergency services were called to Crossley Road in Heaton Chapel, Stockport, at 3.40pm on Saturday, when a car became stuck in about three feet of water caused by a burst main underneath a railway bridge.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service scrambled two engines and its water incident unit to the scene.
The driver was helped away from his car and then handed over to paramedics, who also attended the incident, to check him over. He was not injured. Pictures from the scene showed firefighters helping the man to dry ground.
The incident was aggravated by heavy rainfall during Saturday.
The outlook doesn’t look any better for later this week..
