Celebration of social care is held in village

-

AN event was held to celebrate the social care sector in Cheadle Village.

Natalie Peters, the community development manager for Quality Care of Cheadle, a family-run company led by Phil and Bridie Meehan, organised the event on Cheadle Green.

It was held to mark Quality Care’s 20th birthday and to highlight the work of other social care organisations.

Natalie said: “This is a sector that is often overlooked and out of sight.

“They do an invaluable job of keeping our loved ones either in their own homes for as long as possible or they ensure they are well cared for in a home, for example, when staying at home is no longer possible.

“We brought together local companies and charities that all work hard to provide the very best in what they do.

“We wanted to celebrate them - and Quality Care’s 20th birthday.

“We wanted to thank the people that made 20 years of Quality Caring possible - our fantastic staff.”

Staff from Quality Care of Cheadle were joined by a host of other companies, including the Together Trust, Abney Court Care Home, Stockport Psychological Wellbeing Service and Socially Yours, a not- forprofit social enterprise set up by Quality Care to tackle social isolation.

There were also information stalls on services such as Lloyds Pharmacy, Wheelans Opticals and the Alzheimer’s Society and signed visitors up for a Dementia Friends session to be held at Create It in Cheadle on September 15.

Natalie added: “It was amazing to see so many local companies come together and support one another, helping us to celebrate 20 years and this thoroughly rewarding industry.”
