Stroke awareness event at care home
ACARE home in Cheadle is holding a free Stroke Awareness event for the community.
Tomorrow, Thursday September 21, from 1.30pm to 3pm, the Care UK team at Abney Court will open the doors to the care home in Abney Hall Park for its free event, offering advice and guidance.
Joyce Booth from the Stroke Association will be on hand to help people understand what a stroke is and the effects it can have on loved ones.
Joyce will also discuss how to recognise signs of transient ischaemic attacks (TIAs), as well as the different stages of recovering from a stroke.
After the event, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the team at Abney Court and take a tour of the care home.
Abney Court home manager Tracy Mitchell said: “At Abney Court we strongly believe professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences can make a real difference to the everyday lives of those caring for loved ones who have suffered from a stroke.
“With the team here committed to offering advice and practical support, we are delighted to invite members of the local community to our Stroke Awareness event.
“We are looking forward to welcoming local people to Abney Court for what promises to be an interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
