Stockport Plaza

- Ted Doan

ON the weekend of October 7 and 8, 1932, a vision was born in Stockport as the doors opened on a sumptuous Art Deco Super Cinema and Variety Theatre.

This facility would shine as the regional home for the very best in big screen and live stage entertainment, events and fine dining - and it was here in the very heart of Stockport.

As we celebrate our 85th year of serving you and our community we raise the curtain on yet another season featuring the very best events for you, your family and friends to enjoy.

The cinematic presentations include the undisputed kings of big screen comedy Laurel and Hardy, the first stars to appear on our cinema screen in 1932 who will take pride of place in our birthday weekend film events.

There will also be a sensational mix of the very best in live stage entertainment in our main auditorium and the intimate Green Room performance spaces, and I believe we have something for everyone!

As well as being the perfect venue for your entertainment our café retains its title as ‘The Talk of The North’ with a wonderful menu prepared for you from 10am until 4pm on Mondays to Saturdays. It offers you the chance to enjoy a delightful indulgence in the very best of art deco surroundings, and if you are looking to celebrate a special event, a wedding or simply feel The Plaza could enhance your occasion, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Finally, I am delighted… oh yes I am!... that we shall be welcoming Ted Robbins back to The Plaza as the hilarious Widow Twanky in this year’s sensational family pantomime Aladdin. Alongside will be Brian Capron, who will be joining us as the ‘oh so evil’ Abanazar.

Tickets are on sale now for this affordable festive family treat which runs from December 1.

So if you are on our FREE mailing list your brochure will be in the post, alternatively it is available to collect from The Plaza on Mersey Square in the very heart of Stockport.
