Pupils step up with artwork

-

PRIMARY school pupils have used silk painting to create a ‘heritage montage’ that has gone on display at a Stockport shopping centre.

The youngsters from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and St Thomas’ C of E Primary School created the paintings of historical buildings, natural landscapes and other local attractions during workshops run by community artists.

They joined Councillor Wendy Wild and Brendan Webb, manager at Merseyway Shopping Centre, to unveil the artwork, displayed along an outside staircase.

Brendan said: “The ‘Celebrating Stockport’ art project has transformed a well-used staircase at the centre into something eye-catching and vibrant which creatively showcases the fantastic attractions and buildings the town has to offer.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the final piece of artwork, which is a testament to the brilliant work by the pupils from both schools and a great example of what can be achieved by working collaboratively with the local community.”
