Artists urged to share secret

-

STUDENTS are being urged to take a look at a place called the Secret Studio - to ensure it won’t stay that way for long.

Artists Ian Flannery and Paul Gill work and exhibit their paintings at the studio, which is Vernon Mill, Portwood.

And they are now inviting art students at schools and colleges to join them and also display their work.

Paul, a full-time community nurse who has painted for 20 years, said: “The reason for giving wall space to schools is twofold.

“It gives exposure to our gallery but also gives exposure to the work of students who otherwise may not get to show their work outside of their school walls.

“I share this fantastic space in Vernon Mill with Ian and I love it. Having people appreciate your work is amazing.”

Ian, who helped Paul find his way in the world of art, took a different route into it.

He had a long military career and worked in security management before being made redundant.

He invested in art materials and started painting, finding success in selling his work.

The Secret Studio is open most weekends or can be visited by prior appointment.

Schools and colleges interested in exhibiting there can email thewaxman@weird-wax.com.
