You can help homeless keep warm this winter

MEMBERS of the public are asked to scour their wardrobes for winter clothing to donate to Pass My Parcel, in a bid to help homeless and vulnerable people in Stockport this Christmas.

The aim is to collect jumpers, coats, gloves and scarves over the next two months, as part of an annual Pass It On campaign during December.

Pass It On is part of a year-long national initiative, bringing together colleagues from Pass My Parcel and sister brands, newspaper and magazine wholesaler Smiths News and coffee company Jack’s Beans.

Jonathan Bunting, chief operating officer of Smiths News, which owns Pass My Parcel, said: “Last year, we collected staggering amounts of clothing. We felt it was only right we open up the appeal to the public and help more vulnerable people this Christmas.

“Homelessness is close to many people’s hearts, particularly during winter, and our campaign is something we hope everyone can get involved in.

“Being on the streets has a devastating effect on a person’s health and wellbeing, so a simple gesture like giving them a coat and hot drink can make the world of difference.

“It has a practical purpose, and tells them that someone is thinking about them.”

Stockport residents can donate items at Smiths News, Ashton Road, Bredbury, and online at www. passmyparcel.com/passiton.
