UN event raised funds for the work of UNICEF

THIS year’s annual internatio­nal supper/ music event of the Stockport branch of the United Nations Associatio­n was held at Trinity Methodist Church, Davenport, in aid of UNICEF.

The deputy mayor of Stockport, councillor Walter Brett and the deputy mayoress Maureen Brett were among more than 150 guests present.

The participan­ts enjoyed western music provided by Sale Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Richard Howarth and eastern music by Mehrnoush Talai and Saman Sabeti playing santour and tombak, a kind of drum. Internatio­nal cuisine was served afterwards and the event raised £2,000 for UNICEF, the United Nations Internatio­nal Children Emergency Fund.
