UN event raised funds for the work of UNICEF

THIS year’s an­nual in­ter­na­tional sup­per/ mu­sic event of the Stock­port branch of the United Na­tions As­so­ci­a­tion was held at Trin­ity Methodist Church, Daven­port, in aid of UNICEF.

The deputy mayor of Stock­port, coun­cil­lor Wal­ter Brett and the deputy may­oress Mau­reen Brett were among more than 150 guests present.

The par­tic­i­pants en­joyed western mu­sic pro­vided by Sale Cham­ber Or­ches­tra, con­ducted by Richard Howarth and eastern mu­sic by Mehrnoush Talai and Sa­man Sa­beti play­ing san­tour and tombak, a kind of drum. In­ter­na­tional cui­sine was served af­ter­wards and the event raised £2,000 for UNICEF, the United Na­tions In­ter­na­tional Chil­dren Emer­gency Fund.
