UN event raised funds for the work of UNICEF
THIS year’s annual international supper/ music event of the Stockport branch of the United Nations Association was held at Trinity Methodist Church, Davenport, in aid of UNICEF.
The deputy mayor of Stockport, councillor Walter Brett and the deputy mayoress Maureen Brett were among more than 150 guests present.
The participants enjoyed western music provided by Sale Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Richard Howarth and eastern music by Mehrnoush Talai and Saman Sabeti playing santour and tombak, a kind of drum. International cuisine was served afterwards and the event raised £2,000 for UNICEF, the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund.
