Splashing out to help homeless
CHEADLE business Real Stone and Tile has joined forces with charity The Wellspring Stockport, which supports homeless people in the area.
This year Leigh Price, co-director of Real Stone and Tile, launched initiative Real Stone and Tile in the Community, supporting local groups and charities by donating materials.
After hearing of the initiative, members of The Wellspring team contacted Leigh to discuss refurbishing the facility’s bathrooms, which are regularly used by those in need but had fallen into disrepair.
Jonathan Billings, chief executive officer of The Wellspring Stockport, said: “Hundreds of vulnerable people use the centre each week, so you can understand how important the shower and bathroom facilities are.
“These services are also largely unavailable in Stockport, making them an essential part of our project.
“The charity survives on donations from the kind people of Stockport and each day we are overwhelmed by the support we continue to receive.
“We would like to thank the team at Real Stone and Tile for their generous donation, our facilities have been transformed into a clean, safe and stylish wet room and bathrooms, much to the delight of our users.”
The centre provides food, clothing and support to adults. During November, the charity is holding a Rucksack Project, calling on people to donate rucksacks, sleeping bags, hats, scarves and gloves for distribution to people sleeping rough during winter.
Leigh said “As a local company, we pride ourselves on helping our community and raising awareness of worthwhile causes.
“As soon as we heard about the amazing work that The Wellspring has been doing, we couldn’t wait to get involved and lend a helping hand.”
