TRIBUTES have been paid to a well-known tattoo artist who died suddenly and a fundraising effort was launched to give him ‘the send off he deserves.’

Jake Scicluna, 36, from Bredbury, died at his home on Stockport Road East after suffering what his family believe to be a panic attack or fit.

His funeral took place at Stockport Crematorium on Monday, followed by a wake at the Woodley Arms pub.

Pub regulars held events to raise money to make his funeral and wake a fitting goodbye.

Jake had become a wellknown and well-liked figure through his tattoo business Inscribed Art, in Romiley, where flowers and candles were placed in tribute.

Brother Rick Scicluna, 31, said: “He was well-known through his work but he had so many different circles of friends. Jake was stubborn but a great guy, he never did anyone any harm and helped whoever he could. He had no enemies, just friends.

“He was my big brother and a great brother, everything that one should be. You could go to him with anything, he would always be there for you.”

Jake, who was a regular gym-goer, died in the early hours of November 4 and had in previous days complained of having difficulty breathing. An autopsy found no cause of death so it is currently being treated as unexplained.

He leaves behind mum Susan, 58 and dad Silvio, 61 and lived with his three Shar Pei dogs.

Dozens of people donated to Jake’s gofundme page and left tributes.

Uncle Glenn Hodnett said: “Words cannot express how overwhelmed I am of people’s generosity on helping towards his funeral costs. I didn’t realise how many people knew Jake and some of the memories people are sharing I can
