Despite a good start to the second half, with an early attack by Stockport it was the visitors whose accuracy deserted them and Warrington dominated the half.
They added a try on 50 minuses after a good attack down the right was switched wide to the left for a converted try to bring the home side to within a point at 15-14.
Stockport were finding it increasingly difficult to contain Warrington and a penalty from 30 metres put the home side ahead after 60 minutes.
They added a converted try as they ran back from the kick off to go into a 24-15 lead.
Stockport’s Simon Green was yellow carded for taking a man out in the air, despite being a man down Stockport defended well at the line out five metres from their line and cleared.
But Warrrington were looking increasingly dangerous and a dummy by their No 10 created space for the centre to score under the posts for the final score of 31-15.
