Seven Miles Out

- Rosemary Barratt

WHO can believe it’s the beginning of December and we are showcasing all the events running up to Christmas under the banner of The Stockport Old Town Festive Fringe.

There’s something for everyone to enjoy including live music, young bands, comedy, markets and the return of the Cryptic Quiz on Thursday, December 21.

This Friday at 7.30pm we have last Twang! of 2017 hosted by those local celebrities Stockport Ukulele Players who have a knack of popping up in places where you’d never expect wearing their Christmas jumpers.

Twang! has become a very popular social gathering that attracts music lovers of all ages. Just turn up and join the strum along and sing along.

We have ukuleles that you can borrow if you don’t have your own.

Twang! also features an Open Mic session in the middle of the evening when you can perform a song or a piece of music of your choosing.

It’s a very inclusive affair and we welcome performers of all abilities so don’t be shy.

On Saturday from 8pm we have our last Saturday Sessions of the year which is our evening of live music put together by the wonderful Kamey McNamara of Community Music.

December’s line-up features Mike Nash and Jan Sumara - ‘acoustic classic covers with blended harmonies,’ an acoustic set from Glass Ankle - ‘Inventive Melodic Pop’ and Coach Jeets - ‘Alternative take on rap music: Rap ‘n’ roll.’

Saturday Sessions is always a great night of local music.

Under-18s are very welcome with an adult.

If you are a musician or band who would like to play at Saturday Sessions you can contact Kamey by email at info@community-music.co.uk
