Kremner bounces back with a bang

- BOXING BY SHELDAN KEAY

BOXER Andy Kremner made a successful return to the ring on Sunday after he comfortably defeated Duane Green on points.

Kremner, who is trained by Matthew Hatton at his gym in Stockport, defeated Green 60-54 after six rounds to pick up the win at the annual Jolly Boys show taking place at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.

The win came after a frustrating couple of years outside of the ring for Kremner, as he suffered a serious shoulder injury which forced him to miss 18 months of action.

He finally returned to the ring in style earlier this year when he defeated Fonz Alexander live on BoxNation at the Bolton Whites Hotel, but he was then involved in a car crash which put him on the shelf for a further seven months.

Now fully recovered, Kremner was full of praise for his team after the win against Green during the weekend, which saw him extend his unbeaten record to 8-0 in the process.

“A massive thank you to Matthew Hatton for the work he’s put in with me and the rest of the team.

“It’s time to enjoy Christmas now,” he said.

“Thank you everyone who came to the fight, I couldn’t do it without their support. I’m back again in March so I’ll see everyone again then.” Also on the card, there were points wins for Ryan Doyle and Kyle Lomotey, while Jack Kilgannon picked up a first round win against Sean Gorman after Gorman suffered an arm injury.
