As planners fill in new calendar

fourteen steps. The fact that former Hatters hero Tony Hancock graced the occasion with his presence and made an impassioned speech about his time at County, was really good – but even better was the fact that Tony won the auction to take home the specially commissioned pub sign we had obtained, and the ‘Fourteen Steps’ sign now features in the Hancock back garden!

December 17 saw the Cooperative engaged with the Club and the Stockport Family Church organising the ‘Stockport County Christmas Carol Concert’ which was another resounding success attracting over 200 to the Insider Suite at Edgeley Park on a day in which the weather was less than kind to those turning out.

Over £400 was raised for the Wellspring, and for that alone the event was worth putting on.

On the subject of the Wellspring, the Cooperative made several appeals for food or warm clothing for the Wellspring, the most recent one on 9th and 17th December which realised a massive amount of warm clothing which will be used wisely by the Stockport homeless charity.

We have also run a number of smaller events, Quiz Nights (latterly going ahead at the Spinning Top) and the Christmas Cavort amongst them.

I am not sure quite what is in store in 2018, but I look forward to being able to recount it to you via this column.
