Two organisations with a shared love of
I WAS talking to a County supporter the other day, and during our conversation he asked the question `Why are the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative not more like Help the Hatters?’ continuing `Help the Hatters help the Club in many ways and spend moneys and masses of their time labouring in the County cause!’
The question was a good one, and deserved a considered response . I acknowledged straight away just what a valuable job Help the Hatters have done over the years, and continue to do for the Club, saving it large sums of money whilst bringing to fruition such huge projects as the refurbishment and reconstruction of Manor Farm some years ago, to the more recent example of Help the Hatters’ excellence, namely the founding of the Stockport County Museum which is now doing great service, introducing children from schools inside and beyond the Borough to County History and the Club’s current situation.
I could have added many other examples of where Help the Hatters have gone above and well beyond to help Stockport County.
That was never in doubt. But was the role of the Supporters Cooperative?
Having acknowledged earlier the fulsome contribution that Help the Hatters make to the `here and now,’ I felt it necessary to point out the Cooperative, whose focus must essentially be more on the future, also brought much to the table right now via the Hatters Half Marathon which is such a boon to the Club and Stockport generally, and the regular appeals in support of the Wellspring,
