Best foot forward for charity fun run
WE are now recruiting fundraising runners to take part in The Great Manchester 10k Run and The Great Manchester Half Marathon, both events taking place on Sunday, May 20.

Wellspring places in either event are free in return for fundraising for The Wellspring, we don’t set anyone a fundraising target. More information about The Wellspring and the many services the charity provides can be found at thewellspring.co.uk. The Great Manchester run is The Wellspring’s biggest fundraising event. In 2017 almost 450 local people ran and fundraised for The Wellspring. This fundraising makes a huge difference to the lives of so many local people.
Please get in touch and sign up to run for The Wellspring in 2018. You don’t have to be a fantastic runner or have any running experience.
The event is the biggest 10k run in the UK and tens of thousands of people take part creating a brilliant atmosphere.
Over the past few months we have had a problem with people begging in the town centre. In our experience people sitting begging on the streets are doing so to fund an addiction. People can very easily slip in to a dependency of begging. The Wellspring will always try to engage and help these people. Giving people money who have addictions really does not help. It keeps people trapped in the cycle of addiction and does nothing to help people change. Once a person is strong enough to break that cycle then lots of services are available to them to support them to permanently move away from both addiction and begging. It is a brilliant experience to support someone away from addiction and this always motivates us to support others.
The Wellspring Factor Quiz takes place on Friday, February 16, at 7pm at Stockport Grammar School. This is a brilliant event hosted by Gordon Burns and very professionally organised by a former BBC production company.
Teams of six get together to answer questions on the big screen and compete to become Wellspring Factor Champions. Tickets cost £12 each and are available from Pauline on 0161 427 2763.
