New additions set to boost Redrock

- LUCY ROUE

ANOTHER 19,400 sq ft has been let at Redrock Stockport as bar operator Loungers and The Gym Group add their names to the line-up.

The additions mean that South Manchester’s newest leisure destination is now 90 per cent let – and tenants are reporting that initial trading figures are significantly exceeding forecasts.

Tenants in the new £45m leisure development have been thrilled with visitor numbers from day one with anchor tenant, The Light Cinema, calling this their ‘most successful opening to date’.

Loungers has already begun fitting out its new Berretto Lounge ahead of opening today (January 24).

Occupying a 4,400 sq ft unit that overlooks the public square linking Redrock with Stockport’s main retail centre, which attracts more than 10 million shoppers each year, Loungers popular casual dining and bar concept will expand the food offering at Redrock even further. The Gym Group has also signed up to take a double unit totalling 15,000 sq ft of space at Redrock. The Gym Group is a fast-growing, leading provider of high quality, 24-hour, low cost gyms with 95 gyms in major towns and cities.

Their presence at Redrock will build the leisure element of the development even further, bringing visitors to the scheme throughout the day and evening.

The Gym Group has also just begun its fit out work and are due to open over the coming weeks.

The growing line-up at Redrock now includes The Light Cinema, PizzaExpress, Zizzi, Mangobean Coffee and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

Lunson Mitchenall and BarkerProudlove are appointed as agents for Redrock Stockport.

The 75,000 sq ft leisure development opened in November. It comes after Stockport’s newest cinema clocked up almost 33,000 visitors in December and continues to be a popular choice.

By the end of December it had played host to 32,900 film fans – and had also sold 3,399 bags of popcorn, made 2,420 cups of coffee and sold 1,723 pints of lager.

Councillor Kate Butler, cabinet member for economy and regeneration, said: “Redrock’s huge popularity so far is clear and that is set to soar in the new year with the arrival of The Gym Group and Berretto Lounge.

“There’s still much to do though with improvements to Merseyway being planned and a continued focus on reinvigorating our historic core around the Market Place and Underbanks.”
