A future in finance for Jennifer
A MARPLE Bridge teenager is making plans for a future in finance, having accepted an trainee tax advisor apprenticeship.
Manchester High School for Girls pupil Jennifer escott, aged 18, will be an apprentice with ernst & Young LLP (eY).
Jennifer, who is studying A level maths, economics and French, said: “Applying for an apprenticeship made perfect sense to me.
“I will be able to go and work in an area which I already find appealing and I will be trained and get paid too.
“My teachers were really supportive of my choice and helped me prepare for the application process.”
Jennifer will receive an annual salary of £16,000 during her apprenticeship and at the end of the programme, once fully qualified, she will have a guaranteed position at eY.
She said: “I decided to go for two placements, one at KPMG and one at eY. I was really pleased to be successful in both my applications and it was a tough choice between the two.”
Claire Hewitt, headteacher at Manchester High School for Girls, said: “This is well deserved recognition for Jennifer.
“She has continued to work hard throughout her Sixth Form studies and I have no doubt that, come the summer, she will achieve the grades needed to progress to her apprenticeship scheme.
“our Sixth Form Centre is buzzing as so many of our students are receiving offers from their first choice of university.
“we also have girls who have chosen to pursue other routes, such as paid apprenticeships at the BBC or music degrees at leading conservatoires.
“There are many paths to success and we are looking forward to celebrating the achievements of all our Sixth Formers in the months to come.”
