Will you boost hospice funds?

- ALICE IRVING newsdesk@men-news.co.uk @MENnewsdesk

ALOCAL charity is calling on people to get their affairs in order this March and help raise vital funds to support patients across Greater Manchester.

The St Ann’s Hospice Will Week is an annual campaign, which sees dozens of kind-hearted solicitors giving their time for free to help people make their will.

Instead of charging their usual fee, they are suggesting that supporters make a donation to St Ann’s Hospice.

Francesca Breakspear is a solicitor at mosshaselhurst, who are regular supporters of the campaign. She said: “Working as a solicitor I see firsthand the impact of getting your personal affairs in order. Something as simple as making a Will can really provide peace of mind.

“By making a Will you can chose who will administer your estate, who will be the guardians for any minor children, you can specify funeral wishes and also who is to receive your estate when you do pass away.

“Knowing that your through the different stages and paperwork.

“St Ann’s Will Week is a really good time for you to make your Will, as you’ll be benefitting a fantastic local charity, as well as yourself. Myself and all the other local solicitors involved are waiving our usual fees, and asking you to make a donation to St Ann’s instead.

“I choose to support St Ann’s in this way because my Nan was a patient there.

“The staff were absolutely amazing, from the care that she received but also the support that they offered to us as family.

“I have also taken part in other fundraising activities that have been run by the hospice, such as the Manchester Midnight Walk.”

The St Ann’s Hospice Will Week is from March 12 to 16. To take part or for information, call the hospice on 0161 498 3631 or visit www.sah.org.uk/ willweek.
