Homecare pharmacy centre to boost service
BAXTER Healthcare Ltd has opened a new homecare pharmacy distribution centre in Ashurst Drive, Cheadle.
The new 12,000 sq ft site houses and dispenses products which enable patients to receive therapies at home, rather than having treatment in hospital.
The new facility will enable the team to increase the number of patients which can be served in the future, in addition to provision by the existing facility in Stockport.
The team at Baxter were joined by healthcare professionals and patient representatives at the opening event.
After the ceremony, guests were given tours of the new facility to understand what happens when a prescription request is received, through to products being sent out for delivery to patients in their homes.
Andy Goldney, general manager of Baxter UK, Ireland and Nordic, said: “I was delighted to welcome our guests to our new site to formally open our new homecare pharmacy distribution hub.
“For more than 50 years Baxter has had a presence and long standing commitment in the UK.
“The new facility will increase our capability and capacity to provide life sustaining intravenous products to patients in the north of England who may require treatment for a few weeks, months or even years ahead.”
