Moor play their part in thrilling show
THIS was the third meeting this season between these sides and although it is difficult to argue the superiority of the Cheshire lads on each occasion, each and every game has been an advert for the game at this level.
Some wonderful rugby on both sides and the games played in a tremendous spirit and on each occasion, Moor could come away with positives in droves
The first 15 mins were dominated by the home side, two excellent converted tries giving them a healthy 14-point lead.
But the Moor lads suddenly woke up and numerous phases of teak tough possession brought them a deserved try by the totemic Evan Coffey after twenty minutes.
Nick Tenney added the extras. Heaton Moor then began to dominate proceedings, Joe Kilbride and James Molloy very much to the fore and in a brilliant move involving both, Declan McGeehan crossed over for his first try of the season. Again, beautifully converted by Tenney!
Though they would lose Dom Loftus soon after to another knee injury, it was he who was leading the Moor charge, countless occasions getting over the gain line.
But you’re never more vulnerable than after you score! Straight from the kick off, Bowdon broke through the Moor ranks to snatch the lead before half time 19-14.
That score before half-time proved inspirational to Bowdon though as they came out rapid at the start of the second half, another fine move finished off only two minutes in, the lead now ten points.
And in a ruthless ten-minute spell midway through the half, they got another two converted tries to gain an unassailable 38-14 lead.
And the rugby on show was a delight to behold!
But credit to Heaton Moor, they kept plugging away, Jono Glanfield leading the way with a massive performance and they scored a late consolation try through James Molloy to put a little gloss on the final score line
