CHADS Studio Theatre presents April In Paris by John Godber.
This production has a specially extended run in Chads Studio Theatre from Saturday, April 28 – Friday, May 11 at 7.45pm. This includes a Sunday matinee at 2.30pm but there will be no performance on Bank Holiday Monday.
April in Paris tells the story of Al and Bet, who live in Hull. Al is an out of work plasterer. Disillusioned, he spends his time in the shed painting terrible acrylics. Al is a bit of a misery guts, the eternal pessimist.
Bet, his wife, works in a shoe shop. She wants fun. She is not happy with Al being at home all the time and under her feet. She seeks excitement in magazine competitions.
In a nutshell, their marriage has become stale. Bet then wins a free romantic trip to Paris. It’s their first foray abroad and this is where the fun begins.
Written in the nineties, this is described as a warmhearted comedy and follows the journey, physically and emotionally, from their humdrum lifestyle to their blossoming cosmopolitan outlook.
John Godber wrote this for the Hull Truck Company and we’re sure you’ll enjoy Chads version with our bickering couple being played by Steve Berrington and Kathryn Way.
