Playing fields work was completed as in planning application
WE write in reply to a letter from Sheila Oliver in the Stockport Express, March 28.
In her letter, Ms Oliver refers to plans for the primary schools on Mill Lane and the former Fir Tree Primary site.
Ms Oliver states that, as part of this, Stockport council did not provide replacement playing fields and also failed to spend the requisite £200k on drainage at Vale View.
The relevant planning application (DC024357) was granted on 01/02/08 and can be viewed at http://planning.stockport. gov.uk/PlanningDatalive/.
Condition seven of the planning permission requires that ‘qualitative improvements to the existing open space facilities at Fir Tree Primary School’ …take place …‘prior to the occupation of the development hereby approved.’
As per this condition, these improvements to the open space facilities at the former Fir Tree Primary School were completed prior to occupation; including several all-weather football and practice pitches on the site which are used by the local community.
£200K was also spent to improve drainage at the Vale View site and all works were completed in compliance with the planning application conditions.
Stockport council has therefore complied fully with its obligations in regard to the planning development of Vale View Primary School and the improved sports and community facilities at the former site of Fir Tree Primary School.
If Ms Oliver has any future queries on planning matters, any of her local representatives would happy to help direct her towards information of relevance, be that via the council planning website or relevant officers.
