MP learns pebble art at carers event

-

AN MP visited a coffee morning which holds a regular programme of activities for carers.

Stockport MP Ann Coffey dropped in to the Signpost Stockport coffee morning at the Heatons Centre.

The sessions offer tea, coffee, cake and a chat, plus optional table-top activities, which on this occasion included decorating rocks.

‘Pebble art’ has become popular, with people painting the rocks and then hiding them in a safe public space for someone else to find, with a message painted on the back of the rock.

Ann was presented with two rocks and has already hidden one during a weekend trip to Scotland, at the historic site of the Battle of Culloden.

She now plans to hide the other one somewhere at the Houses of Parliament.

Ann said: “I always enjoy visiting Signpost Stockport and admire the work they do with carers across Stockport.

“I had a meeting with them about young carers and was so pleased there was time to pop along to the coffee morning and meet the carers as well.

“It’s such a nice opportunity for people to get together, share their experiences, take a break from their caring role and have some fun.

“The rocks were so attractive, with beautiful designs - it will be interesting to see where they turn up.”
